General Advice
Welcome to the Careers and Higher Education Department!
Careers and Higher Education (HE) provision at St Peter’s School is led and coordinated by a dedicated Careers Department, which offers a range of opportunities to benefit each pupil.
The structured programme is delivered by Careers staff and supported by tutors, teachers, external professional companies, guest speakers and Old Peterites.
The breadth of the Careers offering at the school enables all pupils to benefit from a proactive and individually focused programme of activities, advice and guidance to successfully prepare them for the next stage of their lives.
Third and Fourth Form
In these years, we focus on self reflection and discovery. What do you enjoy? What can you envisage yourself doing in the future? What are your goals and aspirations?
Now is the time to start considering what sort of future you envisage for yourself, and start dating steps to get there. We help you focus on the importance of these decisions and support you in reaching your goals.
You'll start doing some self evaluation using fantastic tools in Third Form, and you'll complete do a psychometric test (Morrisby) in Fifth Form to help you learn more about yourself.
Fifth Form
We'll discuss the outcomes of your psychometric testing in Fifth Form and start to really plan a path for your future.
You will be guided and encouraged to choose your Sixth Form options wisely, taking into account your interests and abilities and the sort of courses that appeal to you at university. We will start exploring other options too, if university doesn't feel the right choice.
Sixth Form
Lower Sixth
We will start looking at more targeted progression routes and explore the opportunities open to you Post-18.
You will also get lots of information on applying to university through UCAS and writing your personal statement. There will be lots of things to consider this year, and we will be supporting and informing you all the way!
Upper Sixth
You'll get lots of support with your applications this year, including the UCAS process, writing your personal statement and receiving university offers. If university isn't for you, we are here to help you find a pathway that you'll succeed at and is right for you.
There are plenty of opportunities for one to one discussions around finding courses, internships, CVs, gap years and much more.
And of course, we will be here to help and guide on A-level results day!

We have a new member of the Careers department, Miss Rebecca Williamson who will be with us this year as Mrs Joy Loftus will be on Maternity Leave. Mrs Kaeli Wishart will be the Acting Head of Careers and Higher Education for the academic year 2022-2023.
