Interviews and Auditions

If you are invited to an interview you may be contacted directly, but it is just as likely to show up in Track – here you can accept, decline or ask to change the date or time.

It is best to attend at the time they initially suggest.  However, if this is not possible select the option in Track to ask for a different time AND email the university or college directly.

Interview Practice and Preparation

If you are invited for interview contact the Careers Department immediately to arrange a practice interview.  Prepare yourself well by doing the following:

  • Re-read your personal statement and make sure you can develop and talk further about anything you have mentioned - books, work experience, your reasons for choosing the subject area
  • Research the course structure and content and imagine yourself at each stage:  which options  might you take, what is special about this course which might make you make it your first choice.  The interviewer will be assessing your enthusiasm for their institution as much as for the course subject area
  • Find out as much as you can about the format of the interview from the letters they have sent you and from their website.
  • Wear something smart but also something you are comfortable in
  • Arrive early
  • Take the opportunity to look around the university - it may be your home for 3 or more years.
Finally, even if you have decided that this course is not for you, go to the interview anyway.  It will be excellent practice and your view may change.
